Welcome to Songs From a Hollow Log. This web site is the internet home for a number projects related to the Australian Aboriginal instrument usually known as the "didgeridoo". In addition to the projects we originate such as the radio program "Songs From a Hollow Log", you will find information about various Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal artists, didj-crafters, events, and organizations. Our hope is that this web site will continue to grow and provide a service to the world wide didgeridoo community.

Who is listening?
Here are the flags of the countries of people who have downloaded the internet version of our  radio programs:

Our programs have also been broadcast locally on FM radio station KRBS 107.1

SFHL is also occasionally  heard on the long time didgeridoo internet radio website Joyous Noise    Note: Apparently Joyous Noise is off air for a while, maybe longer. It will be missed, it was a special station in a special time. I have left the link here so you can try it from time to time.

4/4/2007- Wandjuk Marika in Port Moresby. Didjeridu Solo
Side 1 of this recording of traditional didjeridu by an historically significant Aboriginal elder.
One of my personal favorites for a variety of reasons, but most especially for the significance of what and how this man and his family represented themselves and their culture..
Here is more about this recording and the meanings behind the music.

1/3/2007- Old Aboriginal Field Recordings
The first of what I hope will be many downloadable examples of traditional Australian Aboriginal music, most centered around the didgeridoo, all with due respect to the cultures recorded.
Here is track 1, side 2 of "Aboriginal sound instruments" collected by Alice M. Moyle.

7/6/2006- Interview with Stephen Kent
Stephen is a well known, contemporary didj player with a very unique playing style.
If you have listened to him, you know what I mean, and you will enjoy the details of this chat.
If you have never heard him play, you owe it to yourself to hear this contemporary master of the didgeridoo.

7/1/2006- The interview with Jeff Cooper has been upgraded...new version 2........
some new dialog...some new music with Jeff and Sitka and Marko....and a new Vivid Curve jam that just floored me!
